Inside the Experience
How Does a Mystery Work?
Solve the Location Riddle
Each mystery begins with a poetic riddle that reveals your first location, hidden among parks, waters, and whispered paths. Use your wit and curiosity to unravel the clue, then set out toward what it reveals.
Read the Society Mythos & Perform the Rites
At each destination, gather with your fellow explorers to enjoy the location’s recommended food and drink while discovering the next chapter of the mystery. Complete the Society’s Rites together, raising a toast, sharing a discussion, or capturing a moment that bring the mystery to life and mark your progress along the path.
Seek the Society’s Password
Within each location, use your surroundings to solve the on-site riddle. It will lead you to a real object. The name of that object is the password that unlocks your next chapter.
Decode the Final Password
When all passwords have been collected, arrange them as instructed. What is revealed will point you to the final location. You will have to bring together all you have learned.
Visit the Society’s Final Location
This is the last chapter of your tale. Perform the closing rites, take in all you’ve uncovered, and complete your initiation into The Society. The story ends, but what you carry out of it is yours to keep.
Questions from the Field
What Explorers Ask
Everything you need to know before your dossier arrives.
Do I need theme park admission to complete a mystery?
Some mysteries are set within or around theme parks and require valid park admission to access those locations. This is clearly noted on each mystery’s page before purchase. Admission is not included with your dossier and must be arranged separately.
How do we travel between locations?
Each stop is selected with both flexibility and cost in mind. The Society’s routes are designed to prioritize free or low-cost transportation whenever possible — walking, buses, and resort transportation are often part of the journey.
If you choose to drive, be aware that some parks charge for parking, and certain hotel lots may restrict access to dining guests only. Your dossier will include travel notes between stops.
How long does a mystery take to complete?
That’s entirely up to you. Some explorers complete a mystery in a single afternoon. Others spread it across several days, savoring each stop. There is no time limit, no required schedule, and no expiration date on your dossier.
Do I need to visit every stop?
Yes. Each location holds a password, and each password is required to unlock the next chapter and ultimately reach the final destination.
Do I need to purchase food or drinks to play?
No purchase is required to enjoy our mystery adventures unless specifically noted in the adventure details. While many of our stories include stops at restaurants, lounges, and other venues, you’re welcome to simply visit the location and continue your adventure.
If you choose to dine or enjoy a beverage along the way, we encourage you to support these wonderful establishments. Please remember that each business has its own policies, operating hours, and seating availability, and we ask all players to be respectful of the staff, other guests, and the spaces they visit.
Do I need reservations at any of the stops?
Reservations are not required to complete the mystery. However, if you’d like to sit down and dine (especially during busy periods), you’re welcome to make them. One member of your group may use the “Locations Revealed” page for planning while the others remain in the dark.
Reservations are required if using a Disney bus to go from Disney Springs to a resort.
Transportation tips and notes are included in your dossier.
What are the passwords and how do they work?
At each location, an on-site riddle will lead you to a real object you can see with your own eyes. The name of that object is your password. Enter it into the next sealed envelope to unlock the following chapter.
What if I get stuck on a riddle?
Each stop includes a hint link you can access at any time. It reveals a photograph of the object that holds the password. You’re always free to use it, ignore it, or save it for later.
What should I bring with me?
Comfortable walking shoes, a phone with internet access, a charging cable, your preferred form of payment, and your digital dossier are all you need. Everything else the mystery will provide.
Is this appropriate for all ages?
Most Riddle & Roam mysteries are designed with pre-teens and adults in mind. If a mystery contains themes better suited for a mature audience, that will be noted clearly before purchase.
Is this guided or self-guided?
Riddle & Roam is entirely self-guided. There are no tour guides, no scheduled meeting times, and no groups to keep pace with. You move at your own speed, linger where you wish, and follow the story on your terms.
Is there a time limit or expiration date?
No. Your mystery does not expire. Begin whenever the moment feels right, and complete it at whatever pace suits you. The Society will be waiting.
Are your mystery adventures affiliated with Disney or the featured locations?
No. Our mystery adventures are independently created and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or authorized by The Walt Disney Company or any of the restaurants, lounges, hotels, shops, or other businesses featured in our experiences.
Our adventures use real-world locations as part of the storytelling experience, but all trademarks, business names, and property names belong to their respective owners and are used solely to identify those locations.
